How to scale up cell factories

With the development of science and technology, cell factory is more and more applied in the large-scale cell culture. Compared with the traditional rolling bottle culture, cell factory  has the advantages of large culture area, less space, less manual operation, and can be combined with automatic equipment.

Because of the culture nature of cell factories , the easiest way to scale them up is to increase the number of cell factories. As the number of cell factories grows, we run into the same trouble we had with cell bottle culture — multiple open-cap operations. As the number of times to open the lid increases, the operation time will be extended, and the risk of contamination will also increase. To solve this problem, there is a simple way to group cell factories from individual units and assemble the open culture components into a closed system. The operation method is as follows:
1. Prepare customized liquid transfer caps, culture-medium, cell factories and connecting pipes.
2. Connect the liquid transfer cap to the culture medium bottle, and the cell factory to the connecting pipe in A Class A environment.
3. Connect the liquid transfer cap with the connecting pipe through the fast interface to form a closed system.
4. Carry out liquid transfer operation. After the liquid transfer is finished, the connecting pipe can be retained in the cell factory for culture and for the next liquid change and passage operation.
The assembled cell factory will form a closed system. The culture medium will no longer go through an open environment, greatly reducing the risk of external contamination. The culture medium bottles can also be assembled in a super clean table and connected to the piping system to achieve closed transfer of liquid.
